The wines of Viñedos de Páganos receive some of the highest scores..
The famous critic and journalist Tim Atkin has just published a special report on Rioja wines where those from the Sierra Cantabria wineries and vineyards top the rankings.
The Sierra Cantabria family project in the DOCa Rioja again receives the support of international critics with its wines leading the rankings of the best Rioja wines. Likewise, Tim Atkin’s ‘Special Report 2015’ places the wines of this family of wine-growers among the best; those at the top of the list are ‘La Nieta 2012’ with 98 points and ‘El Puntido 2011’, ‘Amancio 2011’ and ‘Señorío de San Vicente 2011’ with 97 points.
At the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria lies the medieval village of Laguardia. In the bowels of the vineyard, carved in the cold rock, and behind a majestic door carved in stone like the city of Petra, Viñedos de Páganos. Founded in 1998 by Miguel and Marcos Eguren, the objective of this winery is to produce great wines that represent the characteristics and personality of the mix of climate, soil and varieties of vineyard of this subzone of Rioja Alavesa.
