Stephen Tanzer places Viñedos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria wines at the top of his list

Teso La Monja wines received excellent scores, the latest acknowledgment of the Eguren family’s project in the Toro D.O.

For yet another year Dominio de Eguren wines were ranked among the top values.

The American critic and editor Stephen Tanzer announced the scores granted the different wines of Spain’s various D.O. in his renowned Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar. For yet another year the wines of Viñedos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria were among those ranked at the top.

Teso la Monja wines received top scores, particularly its Alabaster 2013, with 94 points; its “Victorino 2013”, with 93 points; followed by “Almirez 2013” and “Románico 2013”, both with 91.

Dominio de Eguren, a project by the fourth generation of the Eguren family, was conceived to produce high-quality wine through demanding vineyard selection. This objective was achieved, with Tanzer giving its “Códice 2013” 90 points.

The project by Miguel and Marcos Eguren in Toro once gain garnered praise from international critics.

Founded in 2007, Teso la Monja produces five wines: “Romanico”, “Almirez”, “Victorino”, “Alabaster” and “Teso La Monja”. These five wines transmit Tinta de Toro’s power with elegance, subtlety and freshness, qualities shared by all the wines of the Eguren family’s.

Pre-phylloxera vines, exclusivity, heritage and innovation are the hallmarks of this wine, which reflects the identity of a very special land, a family’s expertise, and the excellence of a unique project, with the elegance and excitement that characterize the Bodega Teso La Monja winery.
