Once again Tim Atkin MW has ranked us among the very best in Rioja in the fifth edition of his Special Report Rioja 2020
We begin the year with acknowledgments and praise from the British critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin in his recent Special Report Rioja 2020. With more than 1,228 wines tasted, Atkin has acknowledged our wines as the very best in Rioja, and our vineyards high atop his rankings.
For the fifth time, he has classified Rioja wineries based on a similar classification system as Bordeaux. At the top of the list, in the First Growths, is Viñedos de Páganos and Viñedos Sierra Cantabria, while in Second Growths we find Señorío de San Vicente.
The Overall Red Wine of the Year from Rioja accolade was awarded to Sierra Cantabria Mágico 2016, with 99 points. In addition to this red wine of the year honour, he also placed La Nieta 2017, with 97 points; and Señorío de San Vicente 2016, Amancio 2016, and Sierra Cantabria Private Collection 2017, with 96 points, as top wines of the region. Not far behind, Sierra Cantabria Organza 2018, from the Viñedos Sierra Cantabria winery, was distinguished as among the best whites of the year, with 95 points.
Finca El Bosque 2017 and El Puntido 2016 also grace the list, with 94 points each.

And thus have his sons have understood their work, embracing a philosophy firmly grounded in excellent care for the vineyard and the utmost respect for the winery’s fruit, to produce wines constituting new classics. Wines that endure over time, combining fruit, strength and structure with elegance, freshness and subtlety.
