Marcos Eguren’s oenological work has been acknowledged by the 2018 Gourmet Wine Guide with its “Special Prize“, as all his wines feature singularities that make them special. Internationally renowned as one of the most prestigious winemakers, his spectacular resume has garnered him countless awards.
The 2018 GVG Awards aim to pay tribute to those professionals whose work bolsters the development of the Spanish wine industry. The “judging panel” is actually made up of the magazine’s users and readers, who cast votes.
“Teso La Monja 2012” was honoured once again, forming part of the “League of 99″ for yet another year. It is a wine that has become an oenological leader, chosen for its special characteristics. Awarded 99 points, it is the second time it has qualified for this select club, after Teso La Monja 2009 was chosen three years ago.
With an exclusive production limited to just 869 bottles, Teso La Monja is a monovarietal Tinta de Toro wine springing from a 130 year old vineyard.
This marking the fifth vintage on the market, Marcos and Miguel Ángel Eguren face the challenge of continuing to write the history of the Toro D.O. with this exclusive, unique and unrepeatable wine. “Teso La Monja 2012” represents an invitation to enjoy the magic of the Tinta de Toro grape and the vineyard’s intimate connection with its surroundings, in a wine crafted to become a viticultural legend, and whose memory will transcend generations, enduring over time. In the words of the Gourmet Wine Guide: “it is a Toro wine endowed with great finesse. Thrilling”.
