‘Sierra Cantabria Crianza 2011’ presents the elegance and freshness of the privilege wine area of Sonsierra, obtained by the exquisite work in our family vineyards and the maximum care in the elaboration. Marcos Eguren portrays Sierra Cantabria Crianza as “A Tempranillo from La Sonsierra fruity and aromatic, elegant and fresh, sweet tannin, velvety, complex and balanced”.

A family history rooted in Sonsierra

The story of this winegrowing family goes back to 1870, when Amancio, the great-grandfather of the current Eguren winemakers, pioneered this project. Marcos and Miguel Eguren, now in charge of winemaking and management respectively, represent the fourth generation of winemakers in this family. Their father, Guillermo, began bottling his production under the brand Sierra Cantabria in 1957.

The purity of terroir

Sierra Cantabria, Viñedos Sierra Cantabria, Señorío de San Vicente and Viñedos de Páganos are the family projects in DOCa. Rioja and Teso La Monja in DO Toro. Marcos and Miguel Eguren have embraced the same principles of their father, Guillermo Eguren, and endorse with passion the search for the identity of the fruit in order to achieve long-lasting wines that ensamble fruit, power and structure with elegance, freshness and subtlety. The family’s philosophy is to create wines which evoke the vineyards where they are born, wines of great versatility and personality, and wines which portray the nuances of outstanding terroirs.
