Vi\u00f1edos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria boasts 18 wines awarded more than 90 points in the 2019 Gu\u00eda de Vinos Gourmets<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"In the 34th<\/sup> edition of the Gu\u00eda de Vinos Gourmets<\/em><\/strong> (Gourmet Wines Guide<\/em>) 18 labels from Vi\u00f1edos and Bodegas Sierra Cantabria were placed on the Honour Roll<\/strong> of the Best Wines in Spain, having garnered scores of at least 90\/100 points<\/strong>, with 12 of them awarded 95 points or more.<\/p>\n

In this edition there were 20 wines that obtained the maximum score awarded by the Guide: 99\/100 points<\/strong>, including Sierra Cantabria M\u00e1gico 2010<\/strong> and Sierra Cantabria CVC (2008, 2009 and 2010).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ‘League of 99’ awards ceremony was held on April 9 in Madrid, where Miguel \u00c1ngel Eguren<\/strong> was tapped to pick up these awards for the two new Vi\u00f1edos y Bodegas Sierra Cantabria wines.<\/p>\n

Sierra Cantabria M\u00e1gico<\/h2>\n

M\u00c1GICO. Def. It boasts qualities that make it very attractive and captivating, as it is extraordinary within its genre<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sierra Cantabria M\u00e1gico proceeds from a small vineyard: El Vardallo <\/strong>(also known as Las Sepulturas<\/em>, or The Tombs) measuring 1.18 hectares, located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is a vineyard planted and grafted after the phylloxera crisis in the early 20th century<\/strong>, with a wide variety of <\/strong>both red <\/strong>and white<\/strong> grapes. Among the reds, it is 65% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache, 2.5% Graciano, 1% Petit Bouschet, and 1.1%, others. As for its white varieties, it is 4.4% Calagra\u00f1o, 3.2% Turrunt\u00e9s and 2.8% Viura.<\/p>\n

As Riojans, we are always seeking genuine<\/strong> and pure wines<\/strong> that transmit their roots: the landscape, culture, tradition, ancestors, family and personal experiences. In this wine, Sierra Cantabria M\u00e1gico, all these qualities come together.<\/p>\n

Sierra Cantabria CVC<\/h2>\n

Sierra Cantabria CVC exudes the tradition linked to the authenticity of the vineyard.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sierra Cantabria CVC was born from the San Pelayo<\/strong> plot: 1.49 hectares located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra<\/strong>, on the slope of the new Vi\u00f1edos Sierra Cantabria winery.<\/p>\n

This vineyard was planted in 1960<\/strong>, with 90% Tempranillo, and 10% other varieties, with only Tempranillo<\/strong> being used to craft this wine.<\/p>\n

We started to produce and nurture this wine with a view to creating one that would maintain all that character, complexity, elegance and identity, unique in time. We selected three vintages<\/strong> for this first edition: 2008, 2009 and 2010.<\/p>\n

The 2008<\/strong> vintage is fresh,<\/strong> a wine with vigour and less structure. The 2009<\/strong> vintage, in contrast, is warm<\/strong>, powerful, full-bodied, and glyceric, with a stunning complexity. From the moment it joined the 2008 vintage, their synthesis demonstrated a greatness far superior to each of them separately, as if they were pieces to a puzzle.<\/p>\n

Finally, 2010<\/strong> is a vintage of balance <\/strong>between the other two, a unique wine of a purity, complexity and finesse that make it unforgettable. The average ageing<\/strong> of the three vintages was 70 months<\/strong>; that is, almost 6 years.<\/p>\n
